Residents will be assigned at the Yale New Haven Hospital HIV outpatient clinic a panel of HIV-infected patients who have a variety of common chronic medical diseases and co-morbidities associated with HIV infection. In addition, one yearly inpatient rotation at Yale New Haven Hospital will be on the Donaldson firm (HIV/AIDS/ID unit).
Residents will be supervised at the HIV outpatient clinic by an assigned preceptor who will supervise their learning activities, clinical management, review cases, provide feedback, and evaluate their clinical competency over the 3 years. In the inpatient setting, as in other inpatient rotations, supervision is accomplished within the team headed by the attending physician. Residents will receive regular feedback and structured evaluation.
